Weekend Fun

I actually took advantage of the city this weekend! I went to a bunch of art galleries in Chelsea with a friend of mine... I had no idea there were just sooo many art galleries all right in a row. We would open random doors and massive amounts of art would be on the other side. Although, my ideas of art are not exactly the same as soon of these "artists." When did a big pile of pink paper shavings become art?!?!? But some galleries were really cool. We stumbled upon a Jackson Pollock exhibit which was actually pretty amazing.

On another artistic note, I'm going to be in the play The Importance of Being Ernest. It's the med school production of it and it should be a good time! I don't have a speaking role or anything major, but I think it's going to be a lot of fun. My last theatrical experience was the 8th grade musical of Arabian Nights... so I think this is going to be quite the learning experience.

The First Week Back

So I obviously am not the best person at keeping up these writing things... but since I have some time to procrastinate right now, it's perfect. I have technically been back in class since Monday, but I have not done an ounce of work for two very important reasons. 1) it's the first week back and 2) there has been massive amounts of football to be watched.

We got right into the whole class thing. The scariest thing being that Kandel, the Noble Prize winner and writer of THE book on neuroscience, is our teacher. A little imtimidating... I have a feeling I'll need to study a little more for that class then for, let's say, Epidemiology. The other cool thing is that we started dissecting the face and head. On Thursday, we actually took out the brain and could hold it in our hands. Luckily our brain was whole and completely intact, unlike some of the other groups. Let's just say that one of them looked like peanut butter and then another was missing half of it.

On another much sadder and depressing note, my fighting Irish were destroyed by OSU. We played like crap and I had some choice words to say at the TV throughout the game. Luckily no one was injured while watching with me. However, for the Texas game there was a much better outcome. I have a little pride for being a Texan and Vince Young is a god. No question. Sadly, the highlight for me might have been the 7 layer dip I made for the game. Mmmm I'll have to make it again soon...

Happy New Year's!

So Jeannie has decided that I need to start keeping a blog and therefore set everything up for me. Since I'm always looking for new forms of procrastination, I figure, why not? We'll see how often I actually write things down. I have never been able to keep a diary in my life so I don't know if a blog will be any better (fyi these will not be diary entries... I'm just saying in general).

New Year's Eve was not exactly what we were expecting but it was definitely a good time. All of my friends and I ended up at this really formal party for like 50 year olds who were all in full length formal gowns. I would say we were the youngest by a long shot, but then some of them brought there 5 and 6 year old children. Awesome. We ended up doing the electric slide and just being completely crazy on the dance floor. It was good cause then the old people came out and shaked their groove thing as well! All in all, an awesome time.

So to start off the new year, I spent the day doing everything I like to do for fun. I went out to lunch and then proceeded to read fairy tales and watch Ever After with Jeannie. I think my brain cannot possibly process the idea that classes are starting back up again so no work was even attempted.
