Happy St. Patrick's Day

Well it's St. Patrick's Day and as a lover of all things Irish I should already be celebrating this joyous day. I should have a Guinness in my hand and be singing Irish drinking songs at a pub with all my friends... Instead I have taken two exams (neuorscience and neuro anatomy) and have one more (voluntary-regular anatomy) one left. What's more is that I have two more exams on Monday which I need to study for starting immediately (oooh anatomy...). Oh and then there are the exams on Wednesday and Friday that I haven't even glanced at. Columbia... you forgot this holiday when you planned our test schedule and for that I am angry.

I will still have that Guinness tonight anyway... and sweetly remember why I love all things Irish =)

I know how you feel

I can really relate to the poor dog in this picture...

You're not in the ghetto anymore, Dorothy!

This week had its ups and downs. On Wednesday I started my clerkship in pediatric oncology. I'm in the bone marrow transplant ward and am really excited to see what this service is like. I'm not sure what exactly I want to go into, so I'm psyched to see this specialty. I was also able to go to Ash Wednesday service with Bren and Kev at the Fordham service... the church was really big and extremely colorful. I'm so used to the French view of aesthetics in a church that it was very different to see so many colors on the woodwork. I got home in time to see Lost. I am still obsessed with that show and every week I hope they will tell more of its secrets and every week more secrets develop.

Thursday I got to be blown away by my classmates and their creative abilities. We had an art show and then coffeehouse where members of the class perform. We have some amazing people here and they just amaze me every day. On Friday I met up with some college friends at a bar downtown and then came back uptown to celebrate Laura's birthday... let's just say that I was not one of the people who ended up eating dog food... Tutoring on Saturday was excellent; my kids are soo sweet and wanting to learn it is just so awesome. I'm not exactly where the rest of the day went, but it ended with all you can eat sushi downtown... I don't think I'll be touching raw fish for awhile.

On another, more depressing note... my Blue Jays lost for the first time since 2004. What's even worse is that it was to Princeton. I don't really want to talk about how upset this made me. I'm still in mourning. And Duke lost to UNC... not a good day. However, Notre Dame got a bid to the tournement... so that's one positive... right? Sigh... my boys better pick it up.

Family Weekend

Saturday was the last Earnest performance... it went really well besides the cane breaking in one of the scenes. However, that made it so I actually had another thing to do in the final act so I kinda liked the impromptu change in pace.

The real fun came after the show ended. My brother, Tara, and I traveled all the way to Brooklyn (shocking, I know) to surprise my cousin on his birthday. The real surpirse though was going to on all of us! We hadn't seen each other in over 10 years!! I was shaking when we opened the door to the party, but there turned out to be no need... we recognized each other and it was just awesome. We had the BEST time catching up with our family. I realized how much I missed having these people in my life.. Some how it turned into 5am. I was exhausted since I was working on 4 hours of sleep from Friday night that all I wanted to do was go to bed so the three of us caught a cab back to SoHo where I just crashed for the night (in the most awesome bed ever... the Wonderbed, who knew?).

On Sunday, I woke up at noon and Tara had made a beautiful breakfast of eggs and bagels. I had planned on going to the library alllllll day, but somehow was convinced to go and finally meet Tara's sister at a bar and watch the UConn/Villanova basketball game. I had never met Tara's sister, so I think that played into me NOT doing work... Around 5pm, I finally headed back to Washington Heights to have dinner with Jamie at Dallas. Another fun day of catching up with lost "family" and not doing work.

Monday we struck the set of Earnest and then I went to Union Square to have dinner with Katherine at the Blue Water Grill. What an AWESOME place for dinner. If you love seafood and need a place to take someone.... soooo good. I loved seeing Katherine and we talked forever. However, after this weekend of gluttony, I need to get in gear to prepare for the upcoming block.
